True magic begins the moment a fragrance touches the skin. To make that magic last, it’s worth following a few subtle yet essential rules. They turn a simple spray into a thoughtful ritual.
Prepare your skin.
This step is crucial. Skin is the foundation on which a fragrance unfolds. The best time to apply perfume is right after a shower, when the skin still retains natural moisture and can better capture and hold aromatic molecules.
Choose your application points carefully.
Skin warmth acts as a catalyst for a fragrance’s development. Focus on pulse points, where blood vessels are closer to the surface:
-
behind the ears
-
on the wrists
-
at the base of the neck
-
inside the elbow
-
behind the knees
Looking for a lighter, more airy effect?
Try the “fragrance cloud” method: spray the scent into the air in front of you, then walk through it, allowing the fragrance to settle softly on your hair and clothing.
A common mistake is rubbing the wrists together after applying perfume. This breaks down the delicate structure of the fragrance molecules and can distort the composition. The right approach is simple: spray and let the scent dry naturally.
Keep in mind that fabrics and hair retain fragrance longer than skin. You can apply perfume to the inside of a jacket or a scarf, but be cautious with light-coloured clothing, silk, or wool, as the alcohol may leave marks. When applying fragrance to hair, hold the bottle at a distance of 20–30 cm.
